On April 19, 2026, the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Michael Bibi, conducted a significant pastoral visit to Saint Joseph’s Parish in Tiko, where he turned his attention toward the future of local Catholic education. During his tour of Saint Joseph Primary School and Standard Primary School, the Prelate took a hands-on approach, engaging with the school communities and inspecting the current state of the facilities. His presence underscored the Diocese’s commitment to not only spiritual growth but also the academic and physical well-being of the youth within the parish.

A central theme of the Bishop’s visit was the strategic decision to blend Saint Joseph and Standard Primary School into a single, synergized institution. Bishop Bibi emphasized that merging these two entities would streamline resources and create a more robust educational environment. By placing the newly unified school under the direct supervision of the Parish Priest, the Diocese aims to ensure a closer integration of the church’s values with the daily curriculum, fostering a stronger sense of community and shared purpose among staff and students alike.

Beyond administrative changes, the Bishop issued a call for immediate infrastructural development to refurbish the existing structures. Recognizing that a conducive learning environment is essential for academic excellence, he highlighted the need for modern upgrades to meet the growing needs of the Tiko community.
This revitalization project is expected to significantly elevate the quality of education provided, ensuring that the children of the parish have access to safe, modern, and high-standard facilities that reflect the prestige of Catholic schooling.
