On April 24, 2026, the Diocese of Buea celebrated the Ruby Jubilee of the Associated Rehabilitation Center for the Handicapped (ARCH) in Dipanda, Mile 14. This 40th anniversary, marked by a Holy Mass presided over by Bishop Michael Bibi, honored four decades of dedicated service to humanity.

Since its founding in 1986, the center has served as a beacon of hope, focusing on restoring dignity to the broken and providing holistic healing that addresses both the physical and spiritual needs of the handicapped.

In his reflection, Bishop Michael Bibi emphasized that ARCH stands as living proof that God never abandons His people, especially those facing physical disabilities. He noted that through the center’s consistent care, the Almighty continues to manifest His healing power and offer profound comfort to the vulnerable. Drawing a parallel to the biblical account in the Second Book of Kings, the prelate likened the mission of ARCH to that of the prophet Elisha, describing the institution as a vital instrument for divine restoration.

Looking toward the future, the Bishop challenged the staff and administration to use this milestone as a period of deep introspection and renewal. He urged them to refine their services and make necessary amends, reminding the community that true healing ultimately comes from God and requires a spirit of profound humility. This call to action serves to ensure that the center remains a place where the most vulnerable can continue to reclaim their place in society with pride and purpose.

A major highlight of the celebration was the official dedication of the Children’s Care Unit, a specialized space designed to nurture young patients and provide a sanctuary of hope for their recovery. The event also celebrated the spirit of inclusion with an award ceremony for the Amputee Football Competition, where the Northwest Amputee Team was honored as the overall winners
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt tribute to the many individuals who have sustained the center’s mission over the last forty years. Bishop Bibi expressed his gratitude to the foundational actors, past and present workers, and the dedicated benefactors whose relentless support has been essential. Their collective commitment has allowed ARCH to reach this historic peak of compassion, proving that faith-driven care can transform despair into empowerment for the community.
