The Diocese of Buea resonated with a symphony of bells and prayers on April 23, 2026, as it celebrated the historic Ruby Jubilee of three distinguished servants of God: Msgr. Jude Mbi, Msgr. Sebastian Fonsah, and Msgr. John Tchamnda.

Marking four decades of consecrated service and the gift of priesthood, the milestone began with a solemn High Pontifical Holy Mass at Holy Family Parish.

The celebration, presided over by Bishop Michael Bibi, served as a profound tribute to forty years of relentless dedication within the Lord’s vineyard.
In a moving homily, Bishop Bibi reminded the faithful that the priesthood is a divine gift rather than a merited achievement, describing the 40th anniversary as a testimony of true perseverance and triumph over challenges. Drawing from the book of Ezekiel, he emphasized that priests were called to be shepherds after the heart of Christ—tasked with strengthening the weak, guarding the flock from harm, and offering constant sacrifice. He highlighted that the Ruby Jubilee was not just a celebration of the past, but a testament to the enduring grace that had sustained these three priests throughout their ministry.

The Bishop further challenged the jubilarians to use the milestone as a season for introspection and renewed dedication to serve without ceasing. He urged Msgr. Mbi, Msgr. Fonsah, and Msgr. Tchamnda to remain “shining lights” and exemplary models for the younger clergy and the laity alike. By calling for continued selfless service, the Chief Shepherd encouraged the three Monsignors to persist in their mission, ensuring that their legacy of faith would continue to inspire the Diocese for years to come.

In their speech of appreciation, the jubilarians expressed profound gratitude to God, the faithful, and the prelate, acknowledging everyone who supported them throughout their priestly journey. They humbly asked for God’s pardon for their shortcomings and prayed for the continued strength to walk His path and labor in His vineyard. This moment of reflection highlighted their deep humility and commitment as they looked forward to their future service.
