In an age where the human person is increasingly fragmented by modern distractions, Rev. Father Martin Njie Moka led a vital catechetical session at Saint Charles Lwanga Parish in Molyko, Buea. Serving as the Private Secretary to the Bishop of Buea, Bishop Michael Bibi, Fr. Njie Moka delivered a powerful message titled “Rediscovering Purity and the Restoration of Harmony in the Human Body.” He reminded the faithful that the human body is not merely material substance, but a sacred vessel designed for divine harmony, directly confronting how addiction in all its forms distorts God’s original plan by damaging physical well-being and fracturing the soul’s relationship with its Creator.

The impacts of drug addiction, Fr. Martin warned, are instantly visible within the community and degrade the human person to a level far below their inherent dignity. Quoting 1 Corinthians 6:19, he reminded the congregation that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, which must be protected, respected, and guarded jealously at all times. He emphasized that life is a precious gift, and when an individual succumbs to dependency, the natural harmony God designed for them is broken, deeply wounding the sacredness of the body as God’s dwelling place.

Faced with this crisis, Fr. Martin stressed that the fight against drug addiction cannot be left solely to civil or religious authorities. Instead, he challenged every Christian to accept responsibility from within their own families and small corners of society to actively safeguard the dignity of life. To inspire them, he called on the faithful to model Saint Monica, whose steadfast, patient prayers and personal witness ultimately led to the conversion of her son, Saint Augustine, proving that persistent faith can break even the hardest chains of dependency.

Rather than leaving the community in despair, the catechesis offered a clear, hopeful roadmap for total restoration. Fr. Martin challenged the faithful to reclaim their foundational sanctity, assuring them that it is entirely possible to break the chains of dependency and restore the body’s natural harmony. Through the cooperation of divine grace, deliberate personal choices, dedicated prayer, and the reception of the sacraments, he concluded that anyone can successfully rediscover the purity of the soul and realign themselves with God’s design.
