Psalms and hymns rose through Saint Peter and Paul University Parish, Buea on Sunday 28th June 2026 as Christians gathered to welcome their Chief Shepherd for the celebration of the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul.

The church was full and every voice joined in worship as the community turned its attention to the altar. The visit commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Bishop Michael Bibi, as the faithful prepared to encounter Christ together.
In his homily, the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea called on the faithful to cultivate the virtue of hospitality at all times. Quoting 2 Kings 4:8-17, Bishop Bibi noted that God rewarded those who were hospitable to His servants. He further reminded them that hospitality also meant accepting the ideas and counsel of others, because welcoming Christ was seen in how they welcomed one another.
Addressing all Christians, Bishop Bibi challenged them to work out their salvation with fear and trembling by fighting hard to avoid sin. He urged the faithful to look to Christ as the perfect model of a sinless life and to make daily choices that kept them close to God. To the students present, he said they must avoid every form of distraction, stressing that the best way they could show gratitude to their parents and to God was through dedication to their studies and positive results.

Bishop during Homily
Speaking to the newly confirmed, the Bishop called on them to shun sin and live according to the Spirit they received.

Bishop during confirmation
As they had been sealed with the Sacrament of Confirmation, he reminded them that they were now called to be true witnesses and soldiers of the Gospel. Their lives, he said, must reflect the faith they professed so that others could come to know Christ through them.
