On Sunday, June 14, 2026, the faithful of Saint John Paul II Parish in Ekona gathered in immense joy and spiritual anticipation to welcome their Chief Shepherd, Bishop Michael Bibi, for a historic pastoral visit. The momentous occasion commenced with a solemn High Pontifical Holy Mass presided over by the prelate. This sacred celebration provided a profound opportunity for the Bishop to connect deeply with his flock, lift them up in prayer, share in their triumphs and trials, and re-energize the spiritual life of the entire Christian community.

During his reflection, the Chief Shepherd called upon the faithful to cultivate a strong, unwavering faith, reminding them of God’s unchanging nature and eternal faithfulness in fulfilling His divine promises.

Bishop Bibi During Homily
Drawing inspiration from the Gospel of Matthew (Chapter 9, verses 36 to 38), Bishop Bibi highlighted the compassionate heart of Jesus toward a helpless, scattered flock. Grounded in this scripture, he exhorted the parish community to pray fervently for holy vocations, urging them to petition the Lord to send forth more devoted laborers to guide, nourish, and protect His plentiful harvest.
The prelate further echoed a solemn call for true conversion, reminding the congregation that every individual will eventually give an account of their life before God. He challenged everyone to engage in deep introspection, turn away from past errors, and sincerely repent. By realigning their daily conduct with the Gospel, Bishop Bibi noted, the faithful can live in a manner that truly honors and pleases the Almighty.

Bishop Bibi during confirmation
The crowning highlight of the Eucharistic celebration was the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation, where 55 candidates were sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Addressing the newly confirmed, Bishop Bibi challenged them to become living witnesses and ambassadors of Christ through exemplary character. He urged them to let their words and actions reflect their new sacred seal, living lives of integrity and service that will shine as lights within their families, schools, and the wider community.
