On the 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time, 21st June 2026, the Christian community of Saint Patrick’s Parish Ngeme, Limbe gathered in joy and excitement to welcome their Chief Shepherd, Bishop Michael Bibi, for a pastoral visit to the parish.

The visit coincided with the parish’s Sunday Mass and brought together clergy, religious, catechists, lay faithful, and candidates preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The Bishop’s presence offered the faithful a moment to pray together, share their joys and challenges, and experience the closeness of their shepherd. In his reflection, Bishop Michael Bibi urged the congregation to remain steadfast like the prophet Jeremiah. Though Jeremiah faced trials, rejection, and persecution, he never wavered in his trust in God. The Prelate noted that Jeremiah’s faith, endurance, and life of prayer should serve as a model for every Christian who desires to remain firm in God’s word even in difficult times.
Drawing from Romans 5:18-19, the Chief Shepherd reminded the faithful that just as sin entered the world through one man, Adam, so too does salvation and new life come to humanity through Christ alone. He encouraged Christians not to shy away from doing good even when adversity surrounds them, because their reward is bountiful in heaven. The Bishop called on all to live out the Gospel they proclaim, letting their faith shine through daily actions in their families, workplaces, and communities.
The highlight of the pastoral visit was the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Through the laying on of hands and anointing with chrism, a group of Christians received the seal of the Holy Spirit. Bishop Bibi challenged the newly confirmed to bear the fruits of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in their thoughts, words, and actions. He urged them to become visible witnesses of Christ’s light in Ngeme and beyond, living as true soldiers of the Gospel sent forth by the Church.
