Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis celebrate Jubilees and First Religious Proffession in Buea
On June 24, 2026, the Diocese of Buea witnessed a double celebration at Saint Jude Parish Bolifamba. Sr. Maria Gorretti and Sr. Antonia Ayangma celebrated 60 years of religious life, marking their Diamond Jubilee. Sr. Flavia Jingla and Sr. Vera Lontum also celebrated their Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of faithful service. On the same day, Sr. Letisia Vernyuy and Sr. Immaculate Ringnyu made their First Profession as Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis.

Bishop Bibi and concelebrants
The event began with a Holy Mass presided over by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, Bishop Michael Bibi. The celebration brought together the religious community, families, and friends to honor the sisters’ commitment and years of service.

Sisters During Eucharistic Celebration
Addressing the jubilarians, Bishop Bibi urged them to give thanks for God’s faithfulness through the decades and to see their lives as living testimonies. He encouraged them to continue being mothers, teachers, and witnesses of Christ’s love, even as they age, knowing that their years of fidelity inspire the whole Church.

To the newly professed sisters, the Bishop reminded them that religious life is a journey of daily renewal and that their “yes” must be renewed each day. He urged them to anchor their lives in Christ, guard their vocation jealously, and allow themselves to be continually led by the One who called them. He emphasized that their vocation is fundamentally a call to humble service in the Franciscan spirit.
The Bishop encouraged all the sisters with the assurance that when they feel tired, inadequate, or weak, God’s grace will always be sufficient. He ended by urging everyone to cultivate the virtues of humility and selfless service.

As the Diamond and Golden Jubilarians inspire the younger generation with decades of selfless service, the newly professed sisters bring fresh zeal to continue the Franciscan mission.
