January 31, 2024 – Buea, Molyko: The Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) proudly launched the 11th edition of its renowned Entrepreneurship and Academic Fair at the Molyko campus in Buea. The fair, scheduled to run from January 30th to February 4th, 2024, is poised to attract thousands of visitors, offering a platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills and interact with a diverse audience.
This year’s edition promises to be a spectacle as all nine schools within CUIB are actively participating, presenting a rich tapestry of innovation and entrepreneurship. Individual students are also contributing to the diversity of ideas and projects on display.
During the opening ceremony, Reverend Father Bartholomew Anyanwu, the President of CUIB, officially declared the fair open. He expressed his gratitude to the students for embracing a culture of innovation and forward thinking, emphasizing that these qualities embody the essence of CUIB. Father Bartholomew also highlighted the institution’s commitment to the Economy of Communion (EoC), a social and economic model inspired by the teachings of the church.
Acknowledging the collaborative effort that went into organizing the fair, Father Bartholomew extended his thanks to the students, staff, sponsors, administrative officials, and the representative of the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, who serves as the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of the University.
In his welcome speech, Father Bartholomew shed light on the university’s core entrepreneurial foundation, stressing that at CUIB, students are not just educated but coached and trained to become job creators. He applauded the organizing team for putting together a fair that uniquely blends entrepreneurship, innovation, and the promotion of the EoC culture.
Eyong Ted Thadeus, the Director of the CUIB Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation Center (CERI), commended the students for upholding the tradition of active participation. He emphasized that the fair provides a unique opportunity for students to showcase the practical skills they’ve acquired during their time at the university.
The organizing committee members were also acknowledged for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the success of the event. Father Bartholomew announced that students with the most innovative ideas would be rewarded at the conclusion of the fair, adding an exciting incentive to the already dynamic event.
Apart from the display of entrepreneurial ventures, the fair promises an array of talent exhibitions, including singing, dancing, and modeling. Renowned guest artists are set to entertain the attendees, making the fair not only an opportunity for academic and entrepreneurial growth but also a celebration of talent and entertainment.
Invited guests, including the representative of the Bishop, Reverend F Mbi, Senator for Buea, Mbella Moki Charles, Davidson Officer for Buea Abba Abduraman, and the Nigerian Consul General in Buea, among others, were given a guided tour around the different stands to witness firsthand the ingenuity and skills of the CUIB students. The fair is anticipated to be a holistic celebration of education, entrepreneurship, and entertainment, showcasing the vibrant spirit of innovation at CUIB.
