Mamfe, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Diocese of Mamfe has officially begun the funeral rites for its first Bishop, Francis Teke Lysinge, Bishop Emeritus of Mamfe, as Bishops, Priests, Religious men and women, family members and faithful from within the Diocese and beyond gather in prayer to accompany their departed shepherd on his final journey.
The mortal remains of Bishop Lysinge were removed from the New Life Mortuary in Mamfe today and conveyed for the continuation of the funeral rites.
The Office of the Dead and Mass, is currently underway, marking the beginning of a night of prayer and Eucharistic celebrations in preparation for the final farewell.

According to the funeral programme , a series of Masses will continue throughout the night and into Thursday morning.
At 9:00 p.m. this Wednesday 12th, Mass will be celebrated by the Fontem, Mbetta and Eyumojock Deaneries. At midnight, the Association of Diocesan Priests, Religious Men and Women, and Seminarians will lead the Eucharistic celebration.
At 3:00 a.m., the family, friends, SOBANS, prayer and action groups will offer Mass, followed by the Office of the Dead and Mass at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, led by the Mamfe, Akwaya and Nguti Deaneries.
The funeral programme will culminate on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass and Burial of Bishop Francis Teke Lysinge
