Mamfe, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 — Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda, alongside brother Bishops, Priests, Religious men and women, and Christians from within the Diocese of Mamfe and beyond, have converged in Mamfe to bid a final farewell to Bishop Francis Teke Lysinge, Bishop Emeritus of Mamfe.
The solemn funeral activities are underway today as the Catholic community gathers in prayer and thanksgiving for the life and ministry of the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Mamfe, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at St. John of God Health Centre in Mamfe, aged 87.

At the New Life Mortuary, the mortal remains of the late Bishop are being conveyed to St. Joseph Cathedral, Mamfe, where the funeral rites will continue. The procession is being accompanied by bishops, clergy, religious and lay faithful, united in prayer and Christian hope.
Born in Muea, Buea, in 1938, Bishop Lysinge was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buea in 1966. In 1999, he was appointed the first Bishop of the newly established Diocese of Mamfe
