COUNTDOWN TO GRACE: 22 Days Until Pope Leo XIV Touches Down in Cameroon
YAOUNDE, March 23, 2026; The clock is ticking, and the atmosphere in the nation’s capital is active. With exactly 22 days to go until the historic Apostolic Journey of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the engine of preparation is running at full throttle.

This afternoon, the Assembly Hall of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC) in Yaounde has become the strategic “war room” for what promises to be a transformative visit. His Grace Archbishop Andrew NKEA, President of NECC, is currently chairing the second high-level preparatory meeting to ensure every detail of the April 15–18 visit is flawless.

Inside the Preparatory War Room are Church’s leadership and technical experts. In attendance are the Bishops, the National Coordinator, Mr. Okie Johnson, Commission Heads, experts from security, liturgy, communication, and transport.
The agenda for this afternoon is intense. Rather than broad strokes, the committee is diving into a meticulous, minute-by-minute review of the Holy Father’s program. From the moment the Papal plane touches down on April 15th to the final blessing on April 18th, every movement is being scrutinized.
