Bishop Michael Bibi Urges Youth to “Remain Faithful to the Lord” at Diocesan Vocations Camp
Bishop Michael Bibi of Buea has called on young people to seek God’s will above personal ambition as the Diocese of Buea opened this year’s Vocations Camp at BROCOL. In his homily at the inaugural Mass, the Bishop reflected on the theme: _“Remain Faithful to the Lord and Discover His Will for Your Life.”

He began by giving thanks to God for the gift of life and for gathering participants for a special moment of prayer, reflection, and discernment.

Bishop Bibi emphasized that every person is called to a particular mission in the Church and in the world. He noted that some are called to the priesthood, others to religious life, marriage and family life, or to dedicated Christian service in various forms. He said the key question for young people should not be “What do I want to do with my life?” but rather, “Lord, what do You want me to do with my life?”

The Bishop stressed that vocation is not chosen only by personal desire but is a response to God’s invitation. He said discernment requires prayer, patience, spiritual guidance, openness of heart, and the willingness to surrender one’s plans to God. Citing the example of the young Samuel, he urged participants to learn to listen and pray: _“Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.”_ He added that God’s call often comes quietly through daily experiences, the counsel of parents, priests and religious, and the deepest desires placed in the human heart.

Concluding, Bishop Bibi presented the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother and Queen of all vocations. He entrusted all participants to her intercession, praying that she help them listen to the voice of her Son, trust in His plan, and generously offer their lives in His service.
