Priests of the Diocese of Buea are currently gathered for their annual spiritual retreat at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre in Buea. The retreat runs from October 4 to 9, 2026, and brings together priests serving across the Diocese with their Bishop for a period of prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal.
The retreat provides the clergy with an opportunity to step away from the demands of their daily pastoral ministry and dedicate themselves more fully to God.

Bishop Bibi and priests during retreat
During these days, they engage in meditation, personal prayer, Holy Mass, Eucharistic adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, spiritual conferences, moments of silence and spiritual reflection.
For priests, spiritual renewal is an essential part of their vocation. Their ministry involves celebrating the sacraments, preaching the Gospel, accompanying families, guiding parish communities and responding to the spiritual needs of the faithful. The retreat offers them a sacred time to deepen their relationship with Christ and renew their commitment to serving God’s people.
The Church also provides for this practice in its law. Canon 276 §2, n. 4 of the Code of Canon Law states that clerics are obliged to make time for spiritual retreats according to the provisions of particular law
