In a profound gesture of pastoral care and solidarity, Bishop Michael Bibi, Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea, on Friday, October 31st, paid a pastoral visit to the Associated Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped (ARCH) at Dibanda Mile 14. The visit comes as the hospital undertakes the construction of an inclusive day-care facility within its premises and the construction of extra wards for patients.
The day-care center is envisioned as a space that gives hope and dignity to children with special needs, while also accommodating children without disabilities. Its goal is to foster inclusion, offer specialized care, and affirm that every child—regardless of ability—is seen, valued, and supported. Meanwhile, the construction of additional wards will increase the hospitals capacity to accommodate up to 26 more patients.
Sister Njam Hostentia, Administrator of the hospital, noted that this initiative aligns with ARCH’s long-standing commitment to serving persons with disabilities. She expressed optimism that the day-care project and the new wards being constructed will enhance the hospital’s mission of providing holistic care and inclusion.
The Bishop’s visit to the hospital and construction site stands as a strong testament to his commitment to advancing healthcare and supporting vulnerable members of the community. His presence brought encouragement to staff and renewed hope to those served by the facility.
