In a significant gesture of communion, His Lordship Bishop Michael Bibi, the Bishop of Buea, granted an audience to a delegation from the Catholic Women Association (CWA) on August 26, 2025, at the Bishop’s House in Small Soppo. The delegation, led by President Madam Christancia Enobi of the CWA Buea chapter, aimed to formally brief the Chief Shepherd on their recent journey to Kampala, Uganda, where they participated in the recently concluded World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations (WUCWO) assembly.
The WUCWO meeting, themed “Women as Custodians of Mother Earth,” provided an opportunity for the women to share ideas, network, and learn about proper waste management practices to save the planet. They also gained valuable insights into how they can better impact their societies, not only religiously but also socially. The gathering in Kampala served as a moment of camaraderie among the women and prompted deep reflection on their capacity to positively influence society, renewing their commitment following this international engagement.
During their five-day visit and retreat in Uganda, the women had a profound spiritual experience, highlighted by a visit to the tomb of Saint Charles Lwanga and the Ugandan Martyrs in Namungongo. This encounter deepened their faith and reignited their commitment to their apostate within the CWA Buea chapter. Inspired by their experience, the women discussed plans to organize a future pilgrimage to Uganda for the entire organization, with the goal of spiritually enriching all members.
Bishop Bibi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the women for their dedication to making Buea diocese a better place, praying that their efforts would yield lasting fruit. He encouraged them to share the knowledge and spiritual insights gained from their experiences not only with CWA members but also with the broader public, fostering a ripple effect of positive impact.
