This significant liturgical event marked the official admission of new altar servers who have completed their period of formation and practice. With their enrollment, these young Christians are now fully commissioned to serve at the altar and assist in Eucharistic celebrations throughout the Diocese.
In his homily, Bishop Bibi reminded the altar servers of the noble calling they have embraced—to serve Christ and His Church through humble and dedicated liturgical service. He emphasized that altar serving is not just a task but a ministry that requires reverence, discipline, and a deep love for the Eucharist.

Bishop Michael Bibi, further challenged the newly enrolled altar servants to model their lives after St. Stephen, the first martyr and patron saint of altar servers. He urged them to live exemplary lives, worthy of emulation, reflecting the values of service, humility, and devotion that their ministry demands. The prelate’s words resonated deeply as he reminded them of the profound impact their service can have on the community.
The enrollment ceremony, the first in 8 years in the Diocese of Buea, was a moment of jubilation and renewal. Bishop Bibi expressed gratitude to parents and guardians for supporting the young servants in their commitment to the Church. This milestone marks a fresh dedication in the hearts of the altar servants, a recomitment to serve God and the community with zeal and faithfulness.
