The culmination of the pastoral visit to St John of God Parish Mile 4, Limbe celebrated today January 21, 2024, brought together over 1000 Christians from small Christian communities, mission stations, and the main parish. In his homily, Bishop Michael Bibi extended heartfelt congratulations to the St. John of God Christians for their exemplary love and unity, urging them to continue fostering these virtues in their collective efforts to build the house of God and strive for heaven.
Bishop Bibi acknowledged and commended the parishioners for their sacrifices in rebuilding and enhancing their church since his last visit in December 2022. He assured them of his return for the dedication of the new church, eliciting applause from the sizable crowd.
Mr. Polycap Lomah, the Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council, warmly welcomed the Bishop and encouraged the Christians to express gratitude for Bishop Bibi’s transformative initiatives within the Diocese. He highlighted the Bishop’s significant accomplishments, including the co-cathedral project, the Bishop Pius Awah Memorial Pastoral Center, DMRT, CUIB, and, above all, his substantial role in enhancing the spiritual lives of Christians within three years.
Representing the Christians of St. John of God Parish, Mr. Lomah reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Bishop amidst challenges. He expressed solidarity, saying, ‘My Lord, we in Mile 4 Limbe are not oblivious to the challenges you face. We are aware of the attacks against you, and today, with one voice, we declare our strong support and prayers, trusting that nothing fashioned against you, which is not of God, shall prosper.’
During the event, Christians of the parish made instant donations and contributed approximately 30 benches to assist in completing the co-cathedral bench project.
The second part of the ceremony was filled with entertainment, featuring vibrant small Christian communities displaying their strength through march-pasts, traditional dances, and other cultural performances.
