Buea Diocesan Priests Continue Annual Retreat with Call to Deeper Relationship with Christ
Priests of the Diocese of Buea on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, entered the second day of their annual retreat at the Bishop Pius Awah Memorial Pastoral Centre in Molyko-Buea, with the day’s reflections centred on deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Retreat Master, Rev. Fr. Michael Suh Neba, in a conference on the theme “What Does Staying with God Mean?”, reflected on the call of the disciples to remain with Christ. He noted that after being called by Jesus, the disciples stayed with Him throughout His earthly ministry and continued to dedicate their lives to Him even after His departure.

Drawing inspiration from the Gospel and everyday Christian experience, Fr. Suh Neba stressed that an effective apostle must first develop a profound knowledge and relationship with the Master. He explained that one cannot effectively witness to Christ without first knowing Him, spending time with Him and allowing His life and teachings to shape one’s own life.

The Retreat Master further highlighted the missionary dimension of discipleship, recalling Christ’s call to His followers to be His witnesses. He encouraged the priests to see their ministry not merely as a responsibility or function, but as a response flowing from a personal and enduring relationship with Jesus Christ, who remains at the centre of their vocation and mission.
