A new chapter in spiritual renewal and personal transformation is taking shape at the Carmelite Sisters of Sasse, Buea, as a state-of-the-art retreat centre undergoes renovation, with the promise of providing a serene environment for prayer, reflection and discernment for both religious and lay people.

Bishop Bibi and camalite sisters
The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Michael Bibi, visited the retreat centre under renovation today, Friday, 9 October 2026, to assess the progress of the project. When completed, the facility is expected to welcome individual retreatants, religious persons and congregations, as well as members of the general public seeking time away from the distractions of everyday life for spiritual recollection and renewal.

Beyond providing a dedicated space for prayer and contemplation, the retreat centre is expected to promote holistic human development by offering an environment conducive to silence, self-reflection and spiritual discernment. It will provide an opportunity for visitors to deepen their relationship with God, rediscover their purpose and return to their daily responsibilities with renewed faith and commitment.

Accompanying the Bishop on the tour of the facility, the Superior of the Carmelite Sisters of Sasse, Sister Rosa Maria, described the project as a dream come true and and answered prayers
