
The Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Michael Bibi, through the Justice and Peace Office of the Diocese of Buea, has facilitated the release of 29 inmates from the Buea Central Prison, in a significant step towards promoting justice, human dignity, and social reintegration.
The intervention followed sustained legal advocacy, careful case reviews, and constructive collaboration with judicial and prison authorities, reflecting the Church’s commitment to restorative justice and the defense of fundamental human rights.

Addressing the newly released persons, Bishop Michael Bibi urged them to see their freedom as a second chance and a moral responsibility. He encouraged them to live as ambassadors of good conduct, respect the law, and become positive contributors to their families and communities, reminding them that true freedom is sustained through discipline, integrity, and responsibility.
In her message, the Director of the Justice and Peace Office, Miss Joyce Mbong, advised the beneficiaries to remain law-abiding, make productive use of the opportunity granted to them, and seek honest means of livelihood. She further noted that reintegration is a shared responsibility that requires commitment, guidance, and accountability.
