Bishop Bibi Urges christians of Mater Christi Parish to Authentic Christian Living and true witnessing
Amidst a heavy downpour, His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, arrived at Mater Christi Parish, Limbe, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, for a pastoral visit.

The Bishop was warmly received by joyful and enthusiastic Christians who braved the rain to welcome their Chief Shepherd. During the visit, Bishop Bibi prayed with the faithful, listened to their concerns and accompanied them in their efforts to deepen their faith and strengthen their spiritual lives. He also administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to some 75 Christians and blessed the parish borehole, an important project expected to serve the needs of the parish community.
In his reflection, Bishop Bibi said the readings of the day challenged Christians to embrace truth and sincerity while rejecting deceptive appearances that can prevent them from remaining faithful to God and experiencing His blessings. Drawing from the Gospel of Matthew 21:28-32, the Bishop cautioned against hypocrisy and a Christian life focused merely on outward appearances. He urged the faithful to undertake sincere introspection, examine their consciences and reflect on what truly matters in the eyes of God. He stressed that authentic Christian life must be expressed through genuine obedience, faith and commitment to God’s will.
The Chief Shepherd further called on the faithful to acknowledge their sins and respond sincerely to God’s call to conversion and penance. He emphasized that holiness remains at the heart of the Christian vocation, through which believers are called to encounter God and inherit His heavenly promises. In living out this vocation, he encouraged Christians to emulate Saint Paul’s humility, dedication and spirit of service in God’s vineyard.

Bishop Bibi also warned against pride, greed and selfishness, which he noted can contribute to injustice and undermine the well-being of communities. He encouraged the faithful to seek solutions to the challenges confronting their communities and to make decisions that promote the common good rather than personal interests. He reminded them that every Christian has a responsibility to contribute positively to society through actions that promote justice, peace, service and human dignity.
Addressing the newly confirmed, Bishop Bibi urged them to allow their actions and service to give visible expression to the faith they profess. He challenged them to become living witnesses of Christ by demonstrating their faith through their conduct, service and commitment to others. He called on them to lead lives worthy of emulation, reminding them that Christian witness is expressed not only through words but, above all, through the way believers live and serve others each day.
