The funeral will also be an occasion for the Diocese of Buea to honour the remarkable contributions of Dr. Appolinarius Mbah, whose unwavering generosity has significantly advanced the Church’s mission in the areas of pastoral development, education, and healthcare.
One of his most notable achievements is the transformation of St. Augustine’s Nursery and Primary School, Boma Street. Before his intervention, the school operated in an old church building partitioned with plywood into makeshift classrooms, leaving pupils without a conducive learning environment. The parish also lacked a befitting church and presbytery. Through Dr. Mbah’s support, a modern nursery and primary school, a new presbytery, and an upgraded parish church have all become a reality, greatly improving both educational and pastoral life within the community.
Dr. Mbah also played a pivotal role in the completion of the St. Pius X Comprehensive and Technical College, Bota, Limbe, a project that has expanded access to quality Catholic education for young people in the Diocese.
His commitment to healthcare has equally left a lasting impact. Through his initiative, teams of specialist orthopedic surgeons and medical professionals from the United States travelled to Mount Mary Hospital, Buea, where they provided free orthopedic consultations and surgeries to numerous patients. Building on the success of the first medical mission, Dr. Mbah facilitated a second outreach in 2026, once again bringing experienced American healthcare professionals to offer free specialized orthopedic care to patients in need.
Beyond these contributions, Dr. Appolinarius Mbah is also the nephew of the late Monsignor Toba, continuing a family tradition of dedicated service to the Church.
As the Diocese gathers to celebrate the life of Mama Veronica Ful Mbah, the faithful will not only remember a devoted mother but also give thanks for the enduring legacy of faith, generosity, and service reflected in the life and works of her family.
