Bells and engines harmonized today at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral, the “wheels of the municipality” gathered for a historic moment of grace. As this Wednesday, May 13, 2026,the eve of the Ascension of Christ, the bike riders of the Buea, Muea, and Molyko deaneries traded the dusty roads for the sanctuary, joining together for a special Thanksgiving Mass presided over by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea, Bishop Michael Bibi.

This Eucharistic celebration was far more than a formal service; it was a heartfelt “thank you” from the Diocese to riders who keep our community moving, highlighting that every laborer, regardless of their trade, is a vital and included part of the flock. The gathering served to celebrate the successes recorded across the deaneries and to express deep gratitude for the enormous work, daily sacrifices, and essential services these riders provide to every corner of the municipality.

“My dear bike riders, You are important in the eyes of God and the work you do is valuable to the community . In good and bad times you must always be united with God. Learn to say thank you to God always. Today we celebrate your contributions to the society . I will always be your father. Use your bikes to spread the Gospel. See Christ in every passenger, and avoid all forms of drugs. ” This message reechoed by the prelate to the riders.

The prelate further challenged the riders to make their bikes and their lives into pulpits for evangelization, reaching everyone they encounter on the road. He urged them to be living witnesses of the faith in the Risen Christ.

His Lordship also called on the riders to take time for personal reflection. He encouraged them to seek conversion, to pray for repentance, and to do penance for the times they had failed to serve the community or had sinned against Christ.
The Chief Shepherd reaffirmed the dignity of the riders, reminding them that they are an integral part of the Body of Christ and the Church. He urged them to reject anything that dishonors their profession or puts their lives and the lives of others at risk, such as drunkenness, drug use, and violence.
The thanksgiving mass ended with a part at the Bishop Pius Awa Pastoral Center with working session with the riders and their Chief shephered, and merry making.
