Your Lordship, Bishop Michael Miabesue Bibi, Bishop of Buea,
On behalf of your late father, Educator and Mentor, Pa Frederick Mubang, former Proprietor of Providence Comprehensive College—now St. Frederick Comprehensive High School—we extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your 25th Priestly Anniversary.
In one of our conversations, you recalled Pa Mubang’s words:
“Meta quarter pikin come here. You say you want be Father, for be father no be joke and no be mop eeeh. You must be clean inside and outside. You must be of good character and a man of integrity.”
Your journey to the priesthood and now the episcopacy shows that you have not only met but exceeded these demands, shepherding a vast Church with faith, hope, and moral discipline, even in the midst of trials.
As current Proprietor of St. Frederick Comprehensive High School, and representing ex-students of Providence Comprehensive College, alongside our staff and students, we rejoice with you. You honour your alma mater and the legacy of Pa Frederick Mubang, whose generosity to the Archdiocese of Bamenda—through the Njangmah Shrine, the Catholic Church in Njimafor, and contributions to the Cathedral—finds its crowning glory in you, the first Bishop to emerge from a private Catholic school in Bamenda.
Appointed Bishop of Buea during a period of socio-political crisis, you confronted internal challenges and urgent pastoral needs with resolve. In a short time, you have expanded parishes to forty, built schools, upgraded hospitals such as Mount Mary Hospital, strengthened unity among priests, religious, and laity, and promoted evangelisation through Divine Mercy Radio Television (DMRTV), now one of Africa’s leading Catholic media institutions. The completion of the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral and the magnificent Pastoral Centre in Buea stand as enduring signs of your visionary leadership.
The administrators, staff, and students of your alma mater pray for God’s continued guidance in your ministry and look forward to celebrating your 10th Anniversary as Bishop.
