Visitatio Ad Limina Apostolorum 2023 has come to an end this Saturday September 16th, 2023 with the celebration of Holy Mass with the Cameroonian community in Italy including Priests and Religious.
Today’s celebration of Mass was presided over by the President of the National Episcopal Conference and Archbishop of Bamenda His Excellency Andrew Fuanya Nkea and was an opportunity for the Bishops to thank God for a successful pilgrimage and to call on the people of God to remain united in prayers as they continue to build the kingdom of God.
Since Monday the 11th of September 2023, the Bishops of Cameroon have been praying for the growth of the Church as they celebrated Masses in the four major Basilicas in Rome. It was equally an occasion for them to meet with the Holy Father, Pope Francis; the Head of the Catholic Church, the Bishop of Rome and Sovereign of the Vatican City.
The one-week pilgrimage was also characterized by visits to the different Dicasteries of the Roman Curia during which administrative issues concerning their Ministry were discussed.
The Bishops during this pilgrimage were urged to carry their crosses and identify with them and to also stay united with the Holy Father and sister Bishops for the growth of the church and God’s kingdom. They also invited Christians to walk with them in this journey of togetherness for the good of the Church.
Visitatio Ad Limina Apostolorum takes place every five years during which Roman Catholic Bishops from all over the world meet in the Vatican with the Pope to pray at the tombs of St. Peter and St. Paul and to discuss issues relating to their Ministry.
