Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis have established a new Province in the Diocese of Buea; the St. Clare Province, with a temporary Provincial Seat at Kombo, mile 16. The new Province was officially erected during a Pontifical Thanksgiving Mass officiated by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese His Lordship Michael Bibi on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral in Molyko-Buea.
Welcoming this community of sisters to His Diocese, Bishop Michael Bibi pledged total and unflinching support to the sisters and assured them of the collaboration of his Priests.
He appreciated the services offered by the TSSF in the Diocesan Curia, the sector of health and education, and in the training of priests over the years. The Local Ordinary called on them to be aware of challenges they may face in the course of pursuing their different charims. However, he encouraged them to trust in God for guidance while challenging the sisters to always make decisions decisions which are guided by God and the concern for the common good.
The Tetiarry sisters of St. Francis is an international religious congregation founded on the 12 of September 1700, and was inspired by St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi. They have the mission to bring peace, comfort, and the message of the Gospel to all those they encounter.
Present at the pontifical mass were civil and traditional authorities, including the paramount chief of Buea His Rural Highness Dr. Robert Ekoko Endeley, who assured the sisters of his support as they carry out the works of evangelization in the Diocese of Buea.
