Faithful of St. Martin De Porres Parish Likomba, Tiko, have been called to be good Shepherds at their various spheres of responsibility. This call was made by Bishop Michael Bibi during a Pastoral Visit to this community on Sunday, April 21st, 2024; Sunday of the Good Shepherd.
In his homily, the prelate noted that a good Shepherd should be able to stand by his sheep and protect them at every given point in time. He told the Christians that they must recognize Jesus as the good Shepherd and live according to his commands.
He challenged them to look up to the example of Christ who as good Shepherd is ready to die for his sheep. Amidst the challenges in the world, Bishop Michael Bibi encouraged his Christians to focus on God, who never fails.
The Church on this fourth Sunday of Easter also celebrated the 61st World Day of Prayer for Vocations, a day set aside to “ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest” . Bishop Bibi invited Faithfull to pray for more vocations in the church so that many may hear and answer to God’s call to serve the church. He called on them to pray for all priests and religious to be dedicated and persevere in their vocation.
Welcoming the prelate to his parish the parish priest Rev. Fr. Armstrong Ndi thanked Bishop Bibi for all the support and encouragement towards the parish.
The Parish Council Chair, on his part, saluted the presence of the Bishop, which he noted brought great joy to the Christian community. He noted that the sacramental life of the Christians has increased tremendously and the parish now has three mission stations, 16 small Christian community, 38 gospel sharing groups, among others.
On their part, the Christians Presented gifts to the Bishop as a sign of appreciation for the work he does in the Diocese.
The Bishop’s pastoral visit it should be noted, gives him an opportunity to pray with his Christians, understand them, and serve them better.
