The Catholic Education Secretary, Students, Pupils, Staff and the entire education family of Christ the King College and ST. Mary’s Nursery and Primary School Tiko, convened at Christ the King Parish Movange, on Friday November 8, 2024, for the official opening Mass of the 2024/2025 school year. The Inaugural Mass celebrated by the Bishop and proprietor His Lordship Michael Bibi, was an opportunity for the education family to pray together in thanksgiving to God for the success of the last school year and for the Lord to bless and accompany them throughout the new school year.
Celebrating the Eucharist, the Bishop and Proprietor cautioned Students and pupils on the ills of drugs and violence and called on them to be disciplined as they pursue their studies ” be disciplined and avoid activities that will jeopardize your studies. Be vigilant and do not disappoint your parents” the prelate noted.
He further congratulated the staff for the holistic formation they offer to students and encouraged them not to relent in their commitment to their job. The Bishop reminded the students and staff that education without Christ is useless.
He reassured them that the Catholic Church will always foster the education of children to make them better citizens.
Addressing the Bishop after the celebration of Mass, the principal of CkC Tiko Rev. Sr. Caroline Fon, saluted the steadfastness of the proprietor in ensuring that CKC and other Catholic Schools continue to be institutions of Faith. She hailed the prelate for the timely payment of salaries of teachers among other practices, which go a long way to allow them address their needs on time.
The event which took place within the framework of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Buea was blended with thrilling animations by the students.
