The Bishop and proprietor of catholic schools in the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi, has showered paternal blessings upon the students, teachers and administrators of the Bishop Rogan College Minor Seminary in Soppo Buea while invoking the presence of God, protection, strength and good health upon this community.
The invocation was done this Friday September 29th, 2023, in the course of the inaugural Mass with the Bishop and the community in the minor seminary for the 2023/2024 academic year. The Eucharistic celebration which took place within the context of the feast of the Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel and Archangel Raphael, was an opportunity to thank God for the many blessings received in the previous year and to ask Him for continuous guidance over this community and their activities as they journey through the new academic year.
The prelate called on these prospective Priests to pray to God always so that they may discern themselves and answer to the call of God to serve the people of Buea and beyond. He challenged the students to be amongst those who will be numbered amongst priests; a vocation he described as noble.
To the Chief Shepherd, this celebration is significant as it happens at a time when Bishop Rogan College Minor Seminary, prepares to celebrate its diamond jubilee come 2024. While noting the meaning of their names, the Bishop urged the students to always pray for the intercession of archangel Michael; who is like God, archangel Gabriel; God is my strength and archangel Raphael; God is my health, as they pursue their studies.
It was a joyous event for the staff and students of BIROCOL as noted by the Rector Rev. Fr. Jude Visoh, who expressed gratitude to the Bishop for this yearly tradition which he recounts is one that reassures the team of BIROCOL of his care and concern for the college. He further assured the proprietor that these 421 students of the college and the 40 prospective seminarians from the archdiocese of Bamenda and the Diocese of Kumbo will enjoy the professionalism of their 59 personnel.
On their part, the students articulated appreciation to Bishop Michael Bibi whom they referred to as “Father and comforter”. They pledged their commitment to keep the standards of the college and to improve on their results in quantity and quality.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the students as a sign of thankfulness, handed to the prelate the image of archangel Michael while praying that the archangel protects their “father” throughout his Ministry.
The event was thrilled with beautiful songs by the BIROCOL students.
