
Steering Committee Prepares for Diocese of Buea’s 75th Anniversary Grand Finale
Members of the Steering Committee for the 75th Anniversary celebrations of the Diocese of Buea convened on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the NECC Hall of the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Center in Molyko, Buea. The meeting focused on evaluating past deanery-level events and finalizing preparations for the grand culmination of the anniversary festivities scheduled for May 7, 2025.
Presided over by the Bishop of Buea, His Lordship Michael Bibi, and flanked by Committee Chairperson Monsignor Mbi, the two-hour session included presentations from heads of subcommittees and deans. Representatives highlighted achievements, challenges, and recommendations to ensure the success of upcoming events.

In his address, Bishop Bibi expressed gratitude to the committee for milestones achieved thus far, notably the successful hosting of the Annual Seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon and the recent dedication of the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral. He commended members for their dedication and urged continued collaboration to uphold the diocese’s mission.
The Bishop also announced that a special representative of Pope Francis will attend the May 7 celebrations, marking the anniversary’s apex. Emphasizing the significance of the occasion, he called on deans and committee members to mobilize faithful across parishes to ensure a dignified and joyous commemoration.
