
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, social communicators from Buea Deanery gathered for a training session focused on effective parish communication. Organized by the Directorate of Communication, led by Rev. Fr. Solomon Lyonga, the training aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the roles and relevance of the Social Communication Commission and emphasize the necessity of collaboration with other committees within the parish pastoral council.

Participants were encouraged to deliver announcements in an orderly manner to ensure that the liturgy remains undistorted. In addition to traditional communication methods, attendees received training on utilizing social media for parish communication, as well as strategies for building a strong corporate identity.

During the session, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Epie, the Diocesan Master of Ceremony and liturgy coordinator, acknowledged the voluntary service of the communicators and commended their achievements. He reiterated the critical importance of effective communication within liturgical contexts and emphasized that communication during Mass should minimize distractions. He also noted the necessity for communicators to be familiar with Catholic terminology and understand the protocols for movement within the church.
