
Muyuka Deanery, one special to the Diocese of Buea amidst challenges faced by her Christians due to the crisis rocking the Anglophone Regions, was pleased to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Buea this 1st day of February 2025 at the deanery level. From Ikata, Munyenge, Bafia, Malende, Yoke, the joyful Christians, some of whom mounted bikes to receive the Local Ordinary came out in their numbers for this celebration.

Bishop Bibi in Muyuka Deanery for 75th anniversary celebration
His Lordship Michael Bibi joined the Christians to thank God for the Love and blessings showered on the Diocese since it’s Canonical erection 75years ago. The celebration of thanksgiving was a moment for the Christians to show gratitude to God for their Priests, Religious and themselves, and to pray that God should continue to protect and be with them.

The call to practice justice was echoed by the Local Ordinary as he celebrated the Eucharist. He implored faithful to have concern for the common good. He told them that everyone has the responsibility to be ambassadors of justice and peace and encouraged them to stay firm in their belief.

Bishop encourages Christians to be thankful
The celebration provided an opportunity for the Prelate to encourage the Christians to stay strong in the middle of difficult moments and to Pray for the restoration of lasting peace in their communities. The prelate noted that the training of a society must go with education, and he encouraged the parents, students, and teachers to take education seriously and to continue to support this initiative of going to school in this environment.

Deanery chairperson
Speaking at the celebration Mr. Etienne, the Deanery chairperson, thanked the Local Ordinary for stretching out to the people of this community in this trying moment and for making available drinking water and other basic facilities to the Christians. He commended the bulldozer Bishop and encouraged him in all he does for the Diocese and for making available priests in the Muyuka Deanery to cater for their spiritual needs. The chair equally expressed gratitude to Bishop Bibi for bringing back to light Our Lady of Grace College Muyuka which noted has enabled their children to go back to school.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the event was crowned by march pass, and traditional presentations.
The animated crowd could only be thankful to God for this unique gathering which projected the love they have for themselves, and the church. They left fulfilled, each going home with a Bible; a gift handed to them by the Bishop, to improve on their faith in God.
