
Seven men were ordained as deacons in the Diocese of Buea in a momentous ceremony held on June 28, 2025, at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral in Molyko, Buea. The ordination mass, presided over by His Lordship Bishop Michael Bibi, gathered a large congregation of Christians, religious, family members, and well-wishers to celebrate this significant milestone in the deacons’ spiritual journeys.

During his homily, Bishop Bibi emphasized the profound responsibilities accompanying the diaconate, reminding the newly ordained deacons that their call to service mandates them to perform several responsibilities, including service at the liturgy, preaching the Gospel, and engaging in works of charity under the directives of the Bishop of Buea and his successors.

With their ordination, they have been incardinated to the Diocese of Buea and are called to embody the lifestyle of the Blessed Virgin Mary, dedicating themselves to her devotion. He advised them to remain steadfast against distractions and to fully commit themselves to their sacred duties.

The newly ordained deacons consist of Rev. Cyril Nke, Rev. Evaristus Mukong, Rev. Karl Killi, Rev. Serge Ngassa, Rev. Evans Njuabe, Rev. Victor Suliy Banseka, and Rev. Clifford Zong Che, who have all taken an oath of obedience to the Bishop of Buea and his successors. Their ministry is characterized by humility, compassion, and a commitment to service.

Diaconal ordination it should be noted, is one of the three levels within the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the other two being priesthood and episcopacy
