Hundreds of Catholic pupils and students convened at Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral Molyko-Buea on Tuesday the 30th of April 2024 to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation administered by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea; Bishop Michael Bibi.
The Sacrament of Confirmation constitutes three essential parts: the renewal of baptismal promises, the imposition of hands, and the anointing with Chrism. These candidates, who, through the sacrament of confirmation, received the gifts of the Holy Spirit, were urged to be propagators of the fruits of the Holy Spirit with emphasis on spreading peace wherever they find themselves.
While officiating the Eucharistic celebration, the prelate rendered gratitude to all the chaplains and those who assisted in instructing the pupils and students in preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. He further challenged the candidates to persevere in their faith while telling them that perseverance is a necessary virtue for all Christians.
Gathered to celebrate the gift of the sacrament of Confirmation with the candidates, were teachers of the Catholic Education family, parents and friends of the confirmed.
It was also an avenue for the pupils and students of the different schools within the Molyko Deanery, to support the works of the Bishop in the diocese. They carried out their Cathedraticum collection which will be used to assist the bishop throughout the year 2024.
Speaking at the celebration, the Dean of Molyko Deanery Rev. Fr. John Chamnda, welcomed the newly confirmed and thanked all who assisted them to grow to this level in their spiritual life.
Bishop Michael Bibi while concluding the celebration, appreciated the education secretary Rev. Fr. Vincent Messue and his team for coordinating the event. He invited all present not only to keep the faith but to live , profess, and spread the faith.
