Priests have been invited to stay in communion with one another as they continue the call to service to the church and her Christians. This call was made by the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi while chairing a Presbyterium which took place on October 10th 2023 at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Centre in Molyko – Buea.
This meeting which aimed at evaluating the the happenings in the Diocese this far and to plan for future activities, has gone down record as the first official gathering in the first structure of the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre. It was an opportunity for the priests of the Diocese of Buea to be present here as a team for the first time and to appreciate the esthetics achieved at this Centre.
Talking on a major milestone event to be celebrated in 2025, the Bishop’s Chancellor Rev. Fr. Anuchem Augustine , announced that activities marking the 75th anniversary of the Diocese shall be launched on the 18th of April 2024 and will run for a year prior to the grand celebration in 2025. This twin celebration will mark 75years of existence of the Diocese of Buea and 25years of priestly ordination of Bishop Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea.
During the meeting, the project coordinator of the Diocese Mr. Pierre Ernest Tchinda presented an overview of the goal of the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre stating that this structure born on the 4th of March 2022 and completed in October 2023 is one of the five structures that will make up this multi complex . The Centre he noted, is a retreat Centre having a capacity to host over 350 persons in its Banquet Hall and which has 36 rooms meant to house pilgrims
It was also a moment for the Directorate of Communication to present a road map on achieving a corporate communication culture in the Diocese of Buea. Presenting the goal of this initiative, Madam Fomucha Mirabelle highlighted the need for the diocese to embrace corporate communication as this she emphasized ensures continuity in information while building credibility in the Diocese.
The priests after listening to the different spokes persons and also exchanging their views on how the Diocese should embrace future activities , took on a closed session with His Lordship Michael Bibi to discuss issues pertaining to their priesthood.
