Since the 18th of April 2024, the Diocese of Buea has been celebrating different activities in honor of the 75th anniversary of its canonical erection whose peak celebration falls on May 7, 2025. Thursday October 10th, 2024, the celebration continued with prayer and action groups of the Diocese who converged in their numbers at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral together with their Chief shepherd Bishop Michael Bibi, to give glory to God for 75 years and to thank the Lord for His guidance, blessings and all He has done for them and the Diocese over the years.
During the pontifical Mass, Bishop Michael Bibi saluted these members for their tireless and visible contributions towards the spiritual growth of the Diocese. He implored them to remain steadfast in faith and not to relent their efforts in carrying out works of evangelization. The prelate reminded them that their actions in the church as prayer and action groups, is a continuation of the works of the Apostles whom Jesus mandated to spread the Good news to the ends of the world.
These members were challenged to be true Christians of evangelization and to use their different charisms for the one mission which is the proclamation of the Word of God in their actions and their deeds.
The celebration witnessed the dedication of over one hundred members to Saint Jude apostolate: a saint of disparate and hopeless cases. These members were called to be the light and to be true witnesses of the Gospel.
His Lordship Michael Bibi also used this opportunity to remind Christians of that each person has a guardian angel and that they should not forget to always pray for the guardian and protection of their guardian angel. He challenged Christians to make it a culture to pray the rosary always both as individuals and as groups .
Speaking at the celebration, the Diocesan pastoral council chairperson; Mr. James Vefonge, while welcoming all the members and appreciating them for their commitment to the church, saluted Bishop Michael Bibi for transforming the Diocese of Buea spiritually and infrastructural and for standing as a good shepherd to the flock entrusted to his care.
The celebration was crowned with a match pass by the different prayer and action groups.
