Sunday, May 19, 2024, the Universal Church celebrates the Solemnity of Pentecost; a Feast that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles.
The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea on this Feast which coincided with his annual pastoral visit to Holy Trinity Parish, Bota, Limbe, officiated Mass with Christians of this community at the Saint Pius X Mission Station. He explained during his Homily that the mission of the Holy Spirit is the sanctification of the church in unity with the Father and the Son.
Bishop Michael Bibi prayed for the gifts of the Holy Spirit on the Christians. He urged them to seek to identify their different gifts and to use them for the common good, the growth of the Church, and the growth of the community. During this Eucharistic celebration, 43 candidates were confirmed, and the prelate prayed for the gifts of the Holy Spirit to bear fruits in their lives.
Welcoming the Bishop, the Chairperson of Holy Trinity Parish Bota Limbe, Mr. Kebie saluted the presence of the Bishop in their midst. He termed the Eucharistic celebration a special one as 43 Christians of the parish received the Sacrament of Confirmation. He congratulated the Chief custodian on the numerous achievements recorded in the Diocese and for ensuring efficient management of diocesan affairs. He acknowledged the growth of the spiritual life of the Christians of Holy Family Parish Bota, Limbe noting that they have in place 6 small Christian communities.
Rev. Fr Michael Abecha, Dean of Bota Deanery while addressing the Christians on this day, prayed that God should strengthen the Bishop as he continues his ministry in the Diocese of Buea.
While concluding his two – day Pastoral visit, the Bishop appreciated the Christians for their participation in the growth of the Diocese and for the support towards the completion of the two-anniversary projects: the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral and the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre.
It is worth noting that this Christian community pledged to support the Bishop with over three million Francs for the purchase of the Sound System at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral.
