Through the celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass. The Catholic Education family of CUIB EHS, CUIB A&T, and St Charles Lwanga Nursery and Primary School, gathered at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, to give thanks to God for a successful academic year 2023/2024 and to pray for guidance, protection good health and blessings as they journey through the new school year 2024/2025. The Inaugural Mass was officiated by Bishop Michael Bibi, Bishop of Buea, and Proprietor of Catholic Schools in the Diocese.
In the course of the celebration, he reminded pupils and students of their duties and responsibilities towards their parents who, in season and out of season, remain credible to their academic journey and their general well-being. He called on them to show respect to their parents, be disciplined and obedient, and to make a commitment to grow up as responsible citizens.
It was a moment for the prelate to salute parents for their trust in Catholic education, one that puts God at the center. He prayed that the virtues impacted on pupils and students while they study at Catholic schools should accompany them throughout their lives.
Bishop Bibi recognized teachers for taking the responsibilities of parents in the different institutions and invited them not to stray from the good works and sacrifices that will make these students and pupils entrusted to their care to be responsible.
Created in the image of God, the prelate challenged the education family to identify, develop, and promote talents for the good of the community. He Prayed for blessings upon the teachers, parents, students, pupils, and the entire education family.
Speaking at the opening mass, the head teachers of CUIB A&T and St. Charles Lwanga Nursery and primary school, thanked the chief Shepherd for such initiative that brings the education family together in thanksgiving, making them united as a family. They saluted the services provided for the facilitation of their work, including bus services, play grounds, and the increase in the salaries of teachers just to highlight these.
Rev. Fr. Pascal Siben, Principal of CUIB EHS, added his voice to hail the Chief Shepherd for his efforts in the Diocese over the past years, which he described as success graced by the Lord into a mighty tree . he assured the proprietor that they are working hard to maintain standards at CUIB EHS amidst the growth in number and challenge that may come with it.
