Muea Deanery Celebrates 75th Anniversary Of Buea Diocese; Christians Called To Thank God For His Marvels.
Prelude to the peak celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Buea, Christians of Muea Deanery tuned out in their numbers to welcome with songs of praise His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea who joined the Christians of Muea Deanery to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Diocese at the level of this Deanery .
The colorful reception which took place at St. Andrew Parish Muea on Saturday the 26th of October 2024, was followed by a Eucharistic celebration officiated by His Lordship Michael Bibi, to conclude the three day Deanery celebration which commenced on the 24th of October 2024 with different activities including sports, bible quiz, dancing and singing .
Conferring pg.1360 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church,, the prelate told celebrants that the Eucharist is an act of Thanksgiving , and this explained why they convened to thank God for the Diocese, the Bishops, Missionaries, Priests, Religious, and the entire Christian populace who have contributed enormously to the growth of the Diocese since its erection in 1950.
The Christians together with their Bishop, also thanked God for the work of the Holy Spirit in the church and prayed for more graces in the Diocese of Buea. While delivering a powerful homily centered on the importance of thanksgiving, the Local Ordinary told Christians that they should be thankful to God for the gifts and blessings bestowed on them and that they should use their gifts and talents collectively for the propagation of the Faith. He called on the Christians to thank God in all circumstance despite the challenges and storms they may face.
He further called on the Christians to exercise perseverance in Faith and in their relationship with others and to give others the opportunity to be converted.
The Dean of Muea Deanery Rev. Fr. Theophile, used this opportunity to express gratitude to the Local Ordinary for the opportunity to feast as a family and encouraged Bishop Michael Bibi in his ministry as he shepherds the Diocese.
The closing event witnessed the handing of prizes to winners of the different deanery competitions it should be recalled that the 75th anniversary peak celebration shall take place on the 7th of May 2025.
