Priests of the Diocese of Buea gathered in solidarity to bid farewell to Pa Godfred Ngome; father of one of their own; Rev. Fr. Hillary Ngome whom God has called to his eternal kingdom.
During the funeral rite of Pa Ngome, officiated by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea Bishop Michael Bibi , the family, friends and well-wishers of the Ngome and extended Njumbe family prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and thanked God for the life he lived while on earth.
Bishop Michael Bibi in his homily, comforted the mourners and acknowledged the services that pa Ngome rendered to the church as a committed and seasoned educationist who served the church in different capacities including being the pioneer headmaster of Catholic School Buea Station.
The bishop reminded mourners that death is inevitable and that mourners should never take life for granted. He further brought all to a reality, telling them that it is the responsibility for each and every one to prepare for death so that it doesn’t take anyone by surprise.
He encouraged all to be happy and to do their best while they are alive for everyone will give an account on the judgment day.
The family of Pa Ngome who journeyed at the age of 82years, celebrated their father, giving thanks to God for seeing him through till his dying moment. They expressed gratitude to Bishop Michael Bibi, calling on him to be strong as he takes care of the flock of the Diocese. “Bishop, hold strong. We in the diaspora are strongly behind you”; a family representative noted.
The family while thanking mourners for standing by them at this turbulent moment, called on them to continue praying for the bereaved family especially the wife of Pa Ngome who just became a widow.
The funeral rite took place this 1st day of February 2024 at the Regina Pacis Cathedral In Small Soppo Buea, where Pa Ngome wedded his wife 55years ago.
