Ahead of the forthcoming 48th Annual Seminar of Bishops of Cameroon to be hosted in the Diocese of Buea, the Lord Mayor of Buea Municipality David Mafani Namange Esq., received His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of Buea for an official chat on the program of activities surrounding these historic events.
Bishop Bibi meets Mayor of Buea prelude to Bishop’s seminar
The Local Ordinary in their discussion, unveiled the details of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon, stating that it shall run from the 4th to the 11th of January 2025, with key activities being the opening Mass and Dedication of Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral on the 5th of January, the Opening Ceremony on the 7th of January and the closing ceremony/blessing of the CMA National Secretariat on the 11th of January 2025.
The prelate noted that it is a tradition for the Mayor to welcome the Bishops of Cameroon at the opening ceremony which will bring together state officials and other dignitaries within and out of the Buea Municipality, and to this effect he solicited the availability of Mayor David Mafani to this event holding in his Municipality, Buea the Land of legendary Hospitality.

Recognizing the significant contributions of Bishop Michael Bibi to the beauty of the Buea Municipality, the Lord Mayor, David Mafani Esq., pledged his unwavering support to the Bishop and the church to ensure the success of the Bishop’s conference as well as the 75th anniversary celebration of the Diocese. “My Lord Bishop, We are humbled by your simplicity. During your short stay in Buea, your development has added to the beauty of Buea, the land of legendary hospitality. Congratulations on the work done at the Co-Cathedral. Be rest assured that we are enthusiastic and ready to support you succeed’ the Mayor expressed.

He further assured the Local Ordinary that the forces of law and order and the peace loving people of Buea municipality have worked for peace and security in the city and that the Bishops and other visitors should remain guaranteed of a peaceful environment.

While thanking the Lord Mayor and looking forward to a fruitful meeting in January 2025 and the grand celebration of the 75th anniversary of Buea on the 7th of May, 2025, the prelate gave his blessings to the Mayor and his collaborators and prayed that God should protect them as they work for the good of the municipality.
