Legionaries have been commended for their contributions in building God’s Kingdom as they celebrated the centenary of Legion of Mary in the Diocese of Buea. Commemorated under the theme Holiness, Prayer and Sacrifice, His Lordship Michael Bibi in his homily invited the legionaries to match prayer with action, and to live a holy life through prayer and sacrifice.
The prelate during the Eucharistic celebration also challenged these members to be the best in what they do for through their works, they will attain holiness. He urged them to pray in humility and not with pride and also to sacrifice by thinking of what will benefit others and help those in difficulties.
This joyous celebration was characterized by thanksgiving to God for the wonders, blessings and guidance on the members of legion of Mary in the Diocese of Buea.
At the close of the Eucharistic celebration, the members visited the newly constructed Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre where they handed gifts to His Lordship in appreciation for His works in Shepherding the flock of the Diocese of Buea,
This also witnessed the awards to some members for their outstanding contributions in the life of Legion of Mary in the Diocese.
The Legion of Mary is an apostolic group open to all Catholics founded in 1921 which promotes dedication to Christ through devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The centenary celebration of Legion of Mary in the Diocese of Buea which was to hold in 2021, took place on Friday the 13th of October 2023 at the Co-cathedral in Molyko Buea.
