Buea, Thursday, November 13th, 2025 – Five Sisters of the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis made their Final Profession today at Regina Pacis Cathedral, Small Soppo – Buea during a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Lordship Michael Miabesue Bibi, Bishop of Buea.
The celebration was both colorful and spiritually moving, drawing faithful from across the country to witness this historic moment.

Celebration after Sisters have taken their vows
In his opening remarks, Bishop Bibi reflected on the history of the Diocese, noting that it was exactly last year, August 10th, 2024, at Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral, that the Province established its seat in Buea. He highlighted that this is the Diocese of Buea’s first Final Profession, and emphasized the significance of holding the ceremony at Regina Pacis Cathedral, the Mother Cathedral of Cameroon, stating:
“The Diocese of Buea is privileged and grateful to be part of the history of the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis.” In his homily, the Bishop reminded those present that the Sisters have chosen to answer God’s call completely, dedicating their lives to the service of God and His people. He thanked God for inspiring them and prayed that He who has called them continues to guide them to the very end.

Cross Section of Sisters during final profession
“It is not easy to say yes to God. It takes courage and discernment, especially in our contemporary time. May this call be accompanied by God’s grace to the end of their lives,” Bishop Bibi said. The prelate also expressed profound gratitude to the Sisters’ parents, siblings, friends, and formators, acknowledging that every vocation comes from God through the family:

During vow
“We thank you for permitting your children to serve God. Remember, God’s reward is never small. Having given your children to God, do not take them back; allow them to serve Him fully.” Bishop Bibi encouraged the faithful to continue journeying with the Sisters in prayer, so that their divine mission may bear abundant fruit. Reflecting on the meaning of religious life, he said: “Consecrated life is an intimate gift from God the Father. Those who enter commit to love God above all. It is a public confession of the three Evangelical Councils: chastity, poverty, and obedience.”
He urged the Sisters to remain steadfast in their vocation, reminding them that the world may see only their weaknesses, but God sees their efforts. Referring to the Gospel story of the woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair (Luke 7:36–50), the Bishop emphasized God’s recognition of genuine repentance and effort.

The Five Sisters who received their final profession expressing gratitude to God
“Be faithful to the Evangelical Councils. Let serving Christ and His people always be the source of your joy,” he concluded.
