Thursday June 27th, 2024, the Governor of the Southwest Region; His Excellency Bernard Okalia Bilai granted audience to the Chief Custodian of the Diocese of Buea; His Lordship Michael Miabesue Bibi following the forthcoming celebration of the 75th anniversary of canonical erection of the Diocese of Buea, scheduled for April 24th, 2025.
During this important gathering, Bishop Michael Bibi presented a detail flow of the activities marking this landmark celebration and threw light on the 48th National Episcopal Conference of Bishops of Cameroon NECC, which shall be hosted By the Diocese from the 4th to the 11th of January 2025, within the context of the 75th anniversary celebration.
His Excellency Bernard Okalia Bilai, Governor of the Host Region, a Catholic Christian and also a member of the Steering Committee for the 75th anniversary celebration of the Diocese of Buea, commended the Local Ordinary for all the works of evangelization within the Diocese, and pledged his total support together with his collaborators to ensure the success of the 75th anniversary celebration. “My Lord, we shall accompany you in this Journey” the Governor noted.
It is worth mentioning that activities marking the 75th anniversary celebration of the Diocese of Buea were launched on April 18th 2024 and these activities will run till the peak celebration on April 24, 2025, at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral. The Diocese has as anniversary projects, the completion of the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral and the completion of structures at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre which shall host the Bishops during their stay in Buea.
