At the Regina Pacis Cathedral Small Soppo, Christians convened on Friday March 29, 2024 to honour Good Friday; a day which is believed that Jesus offered himself in a bloody manner to redeem mankind. This celebration in remembrance of the death of Christ focused on the word of God.
While leading the service, the Bishop of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi remarked that Good Friday helps the church to remember the new covenant relationship which Jesus established with the people; one which is universal and not directed to particular persons and one which is written in the hearts of Christians and not on stones. The new covenant relationship is sealed with the blood of Christ and cannot be compared to that of the blood of animals used in the past.
The prelate told Christians that the new relationship is that which forgive sins and called on them to make necessary efforts to stay away from sin which disrupts the communion with God. Sin he reiterated is disobedience and revolt against God and should be avoided always.
He reminded faithful of the importance of reconciliation with God and man, and asked them to forgive one another despite the hurt they may go through.
Bishop Michael Bibi further told Christians that God’s love for His people is manifested in the death of Christ which brings salvation to the world.
In honour of to Christ the universal king, Christians on good Friday, venerated the body of Christ on the cross, while hoping for his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
