Parishioners of St Jude Thaddeus Parish Dibanda Mile 14 put hands on deck to raise the sum of 25 million FCFA for the acquisition of a land aimed at constructing a presbytery for the Parish and a school to serve the learning needs of children of this community.
The fundraising activity was preceded by a thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration presided over by His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea. The presence of His Lordship at St Jude Thaddeus Parish aimed at thanking God for this Christian community, praying with them, and encouraging parishioners as they work in building the house of God.
Celebrating with the Christians on this second Sunday of Advent, Bishop Michael Bibi prayed for peace to reign in their homes as the universal church prepares for the second coming of Christ.
He called on Christians to prepare themselves for Christ’s coming by avoiding all forms of anger, quarreling, and all that may stop them from attaining heaven. Efforts, he said, must be made by each and every one to live stainless lives so as to enjoy the new heaven and the new earth that awaits them.
While calling on them to prepare spiritually for the coming of Christ at Christmas, the prelate further challenged faithful to shun pride and embrace humility as this he says is a sure way to attain peace.
Making reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 754, the Bishop reassured Christians that the coming of Christ will bring redemption to the human race. Thus, since no one knows the hour when Jesus will come, preparedness he reiterated must take pride of place. This should be done by repenting from wrongdoings while embracing the ways of the Lord.
While thanking the Chief Shepherd for his prayers and constant support to the growth of their parish, the Christians mobilized funds to add unto the already 9. 5million francs raised for the acquisition of a parish land that will host the presbytery, making it possible for priests to live with in the parish and provide spiritual assistance to Christians in real time.
The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Ernest Epan, echoed words of gratitude to the prelate for his fatherly concern towards their community.
