A few days to the end of the year 2024, Priests, Religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Buea, joined the Chief Shepherd His Lordship Michael Bibi for a Eucharistic celebration in thanksgiving to God for the graces received throughout 2024 and for the gift of His son at Christmas.
The annual event took place at the Regina Pacis Cathedral, Small Soppo this 27th day of December 2024, giving the diocese and her Christians a platform to commune in the spirit of prayer and unity, sharing a common meal and rejoicing together for the gift of Life .
In the course of the celebration of mass, Bishop Michael Bibi acknowledged the sacrifices made by the Priests of the Diocese, the Religious and the entire Christian body in fostering evangelization in the diocese through their varied activities. He extended sentiments of appreciation to all and encouraged them to be steadfast in their services as the year comes to an end.
Addressing His brother Priests, the Local Ordinary praised them in all they do and reminded them to revisit the joy of the priesthood and the enthusiasm to give their all for the service of God. He challenged them not to give in to distractions that may temper with the joy of their priestly ministry.
Bishop Bibi together with the faithful, prayed that the love of God should be the guide of the Diocese of Buea throughout the coming year. He saluted the Religious for their gifts and talents used to serve in the areas of education, pastoral life, health, and social aspects of the church .Working for the one mission of spreading the Gospel, the Chief Shepherd invited Christians from the different sectors of the Diocese to collaborate for the good of the church.
The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a key moment of social interaction and communion with the Christians. This phase was characterized by traditional displays, musical presentations and drama just to mention these.
The annual thanksgiving celebration brought together Priests, Religious, heads of diocesan services, prayer and action groups among others.
