Priests, Religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Buea, convened at Regina Pacis Cathedral Small soppo Buea on Wednesday July 11th 2024, to commemorate the Feast of Queen of Peace: a feast day of the Diocese. As far back as 1950, the first Bishop of Buea Diocese; Bishop Rogan, dedicated the Diocese of to the maternal protection of the Virgin Mary with tile- Queen of Peace.
Presiding over the Eucharistic Celebration to crown this day, the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi prayed for the endless intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the Diocese, and for lasting peace in the troubled zones of the Country Cameroon. In his homily, Bishop Michael Bibi reminded Christians of the importance of peace and challenged them to be promoters of peace in their families, parishes, Deaneries and wherever they find themselves.
Drawing from paragraph 2,304 of the catechism of the Catholic Church, the prelate said that for lasting peace to be achieved, there is the need to encourage communication, show love and concern for one another, and work hard to promote justice.
The Local Ordinary also reverenced the early Bishops for the sacrifices they made in spreading the gospel. He exalted all the Clergy, Religious men and women as well as lay faithful, to make sacrifices in carry out the works of evangelization.
Holding within the framework of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of canonical erection f the Diocese of Buea, the Bishop invited Christians to embrace the mission of evangelization and to believe in what they read, teach what they believe and to put into practice what they teach.
The celebration also witnessed the procession with the statute of the Blessed Virgin Mary by mothers of the Catholic Women Association CWA, and the Installation of the statute in the Cathedral by the Bishop.
The diocesan feast day it was noted shall henceforth be celebrated annually in the Diocese of Buea.
