Staff from the Directorate of Communication and DMRTV have begun a month-long weekly training program focused on the foundational principles of theology, Catholic doctrine, and effective communication within the context of the Church. The initiative, designed to enhance their professional and spiritual engagement, was organized by the St. John Paul Institute of Theology (JOPASIT).
During the inaugural session on March 17, 2024, Rev. Fr. James Ajumbo, Head of JOPASIT, underscored the critical importance of the training. He emphasized that by virtue of their roles within the Church, staff members are integral to the mission of evangelization. “Every task you undertake—whether in media, writing, or broadcasting—serves as a conduit for spreading the Gospel. It is essential that you are deeply rooted in the teachings of the Church and understand the unique aspects of the Catholic faith,” he stated.

The first lesson centered on an introduction to the Sacred Scriptures, exploring the biblical origins of the Bible and early Christian traditions. In a two-hour interactive seminar, Fr. Ajumbo delved into the structure and themes of the Old Testament, providing practical guidance on accurately referencing Scripture in news reporting and content creation.

Participants engaged actively in discussions, with many expressing enthusiasm about the program’s potential to enrich their work. Attendees departed the session visibly satisfied, with one staff member noting, “This training bridges our professional skills with our faith, empowering us to communicate with both clarity and spiritual depth.”
The peogram will continue weekly, covering additional topics such as Catholic social teaching, liturgy, and ethical communication practices, further equipping staff to align their duties with the Church’s evangelizing mission.
